The Original Challenge Stays. We’re Adding Another Way to Run.

The Original Challenge remains TGARR’s signature $5,000 endurance race. Beginning in 2027, Luxe Class adds another way to take on the same river and clock.

TGARR has always been a constrained endurance challenge.

The $5,000 cap was never just about spending less. It was the constraint that turned 1,590 miles of river into a test of preparation, ingenuity, judgment, and how much faith a crew was willing to place in a boat with a questionable backstory.

That challenge stays.

It now has a name: Original Class.

Original Class remains the main event and the signature TGARR challenge. Same budget cap. Same rules. Same long river. Same chance to find out whether your “great deal” was actually a great deal somewhere around hour 73.

But we also know that some crews want to take on the same river without taking on that particular constraint.

So beginning with TGARR 2027, there will also be a Luxe Class.

No boat budget. No creative accounting. No explaining why the money spent on the boat does not count because the boat was technically sitting behind someone else’s barn.

Luxe is for crews who want the same 1,590 miles, the same 192-hour clock, and the same chance to make a bad decision in spectacular scenery—just with more capability, more comfort, or a little more confidence that the boat will still be running tomorrow morning.

Maybe it has a cabin. Maybe it has upholstery. Maybe it has a refrigerator. We are not here to judge.

The judges are still here. They just will not be judging your boat budget.

The Original Class remains the race TGARR was built around: a deliberately constrained challenge for crews who want to build smart, run hard, and earn every mile.

Luxe is an additional way to take on the river. Not a replacement for the Original Class.

Two classes. One river. Plenty of room for questionable decisions.

Build smart. Run hard. Respect the river.
